Web Design

My approach to web design utilises a blend of technical and design skills to create great looking websites which perform, bringing you business from your website.

Having a website that looks good is important, but only if the presentation is backed up with an approach to web design which ensures your website can achieve your business goals.

When developing a new website I prioritise Search Engine Optimisation and Conversion Optimisation. These are two vital components in any business oriented web development.

Search Engine Optimisation is the art of ensuring you get traffic to your website from the search engines, and Conversion is the art of converting visitors to your site into clients or customers.

However, the first step in any meaningful web development is to define the objectives for your website...

Define your objectives

In order to implement meaningful SEO and Conversion strategies it is crucial to identify the objectives of your website.

The objectives of your website will inform all aspects of the development. For example the goal of your website may be to sell something online, to raise brand awareness, to generate leads by encouraging visitors to contact you or to disseminate information.

I can help you work with your objectives to figure out how your site should be structured and optimised to achieve these goals.

Web Standard Design

All my sites are built with a focus on web standards, these standards bring many benefits, but there a couple of reasons why you, as the client, should insist on web standards.

Firstly, web standard development makes it easier to maintain websites - particularly if at any point you change developers. Web standard code makes it easier for a new developer to jump in and take over maintenance of a site, as the standards impose structure on the code which is easy to interpret.

Secondly, web standard practises ensure a solid base on which to build a strong SEO (search engine optimisation) strategy. Developing an SEO strategy for a site which has not been built on web standards is much more difficult, and will not yield anywhere near the same results.
